→ प्राकृतिक संसाधनों को दो वर्गों में बाँटा गया है-

  • अक्षय प्राकृतिक संसाधन (Inexhaustible Natural Resources), जैसे-सूर्य का प्रकाश, वायु।
  • समाप्त होने वाले प्राकृतिक संसाधन (Exhaustible Natural Resources), जैसे-वन, वन्यजीव, खनिज, कोयला, पेट्रोलियम आदि।

→ कोयला, पेट्रोलियम और प्राकृतिक गैस जीवाश्म ईंधन (Fossil Fuels) हैं। इनका निर्माण सजीवों के मृत अवशेषों से लाखों वर्ष पूर्व हुआ था।

→ कोक, कोलतार, कोयला-गैस कोयले से प्राप्त उत्पाद हैं।

→ पेट्रोलियम के परिष्करण (Refining) से पेट्रोलियम गैस, पेट्रोल, डीजल, मिट्टी का तेल, पैराफिन मोम, स्नेहक तेल आदि प्राप्त होते हैं।

→ प्राकृतिक संसाधन सीमित हैं। हमें इनका उपयोग न्यायोचित एवं बुद्धिमत्ता के आधार पर करना चाहिए।
