→ Microorganisms are too small and are not visible to the unaided age. They are mainly four types:
(a) Baeteria
(b) Fungi
(c) Protozoa
(d) Algae.
Viruses are different from them but even they are included in the same class.

→ Microorganisms are used in preparation of curd, bread and cake. Some bacteria are used in production of medicines and increase soil fertility in agriculture.

→ Some microorganisms decompose the organic waste and dead plants and animals into simple substances and clean up the environment.

→ Microorganisms are the cause of many diseases in humans and plants. Some microorganisms fix nitrogen from the atmosphere and convert nitrogen compounds into nitrogen gas.
