RBSE Class 8 Science Chapter 4 Notes Materials: Metals and Non-Metals

→ Metals are malleable and lustrous where as non-metals are not malleable and lustrous.

→ Metals are ductile and sonorous and good conductor of heat and electricity whereas these properties are not shown by non-metals.

→ Metal oxides are basic whereas non-metal oxides are acidic in nature.

→ Some metals produce metal hydroxide and hydrogen gas by reacting with water where as non-metals do not react with water.

RBSE Class 8 Science Notes Chapter 4 Materials: Metals and Non-Metals

→ Metals gives metal salt and hydrogen gas by reacting with acids whereas non-metals do not react with acids.

→ Some metals react with bases and produce hydrogen gas but the reactions of non-metals with bases are complex.

→ More reactive metals displace the less reactive metals from their compounds in aqueous solutions.
