Why did the villagers set up this organization?
Answer: 
The villagers set up this organization because the private contractors were exploiting the villagers and were threatening them to leave the village. In order to fight against the injustice and to retain their rights over catching fish in Tawa reservoir, tl e villagers stood united and decided to set up an organization in order to protect their rights.

Do you think that the large scale participation of Villagers has contributed to the success of TMS? Write 2 lines on why you think so.
Answer: 
The united struggle by the villagers gave them the strength to raise their voice against the private contractors. Under the newly formed organization Tawa Matsya Sangh, they organized rallies and a Chakka Jaam demanding their rights to continue fishing for their right to livelihood. Because of the continuous struggle by the villagers, the government had to intervene and decided to set up a committee. The committee also gave its report in favour of the local people and retained the rights of catching fishes by the local people.

What role does the constitution play in people’s struggles for equality?
Answer: 
The constitution of the country recognises the idea of equality before law. The constitution provides us the guidelines to struggle against inequality and injustice through laws. The constitution prohibits any discrimination on the grounds of religion, caste, race or gender. The constitution has put a ban on practice of untouchability. It is considered as a punishable offense. Everyone has an access to all public places.
