(a) How does Ladakh get rainfall?
Answer: 
Rainfall in the Ladakh region is due to the height of the Greater Himalayas. The water laden winds strike there and cause rain. Winter is the season in which most of the rainfall takes place. In the winter season, moisture laden winds from the Mediterranean region are able to enter from the passes of the Great Himalayas and cause rain here. In the summer season, almost no rainfall occurs in the Ladakh region. In this season, most of the supply of water comes through the melting of the snow on higher altitudes.

(b) Write a note on the natural vegetation found in the Sahara Desert?
Answer: 
The Sahara desert has a very harsh climatic condition for the plants and animals. The vegetation which is found there, does not need much water to nurture them. The main vegetation found here is cactus, acacia, baobab trees, etc. The plants are having deep roots, small leaves or no leaves. Most of the vegetation found here belongs to the thorny category of plants. Some parts of the deserts where some amount of water is available or a place where oasis are found, plam trees can be seen.

(i) Rainfall: Rainfall in the Sahara region is very low which is less than 30 cm.

Rainfall: Rainfall in the Ladakh desert occurs due to the western disturbances. The moisture laden winds manage to enter into the Ladakh range from various passes.

(ii) Temperature: Temperature in the Sahara desert is very high, hot and dry winds blow in this area.

Temperature: Temperature is very low in the Ladakh desert because of its altitude from the sea level.

(iii) Availability of water: In general, water is not available in abundance. The availability of rivers is not very good that is because scarcity of water is the major problem here.

Availability of water: Melting of snow is the main source of water in the Ladakh desert. Normally, water is not a big problem for the native people.

(iv) Flora and fauna: In the Sahara desert, camel is the common animal which is also known as the ship of the desert. Jackal, hyenas and wild foxes are the other common species of animals found here.

Flora and Fauna: Very unique type of flora and fauna is found here. Yak is the common animal which is found in this types of climate only.
