Answer:
People are a nation’s greatest resource. It is people with their demands and abilities that turn them into ‘resources’.
Hence, human resource is the ultimate resource.
(ii) What are the causes for the uneven distribution of population in the world?
Answer:
The population in the world is unevenly distributed. Many factors affect the distribution of population which include geographical factors, social factors, cultural factors and economic factors. The geographical factors include topography, climate, soil, water, minerals, etc. The places in the world where these factors are favourable for the population, then this place is inhabited by a large population. Conversely where these f&ctors are unfavourable for habitation, a very small population resides there.

The world population is growing at a rapid rate because at present time the development of health facilities has reduced the death rate significantly while the birth rate still remains high.

Answer:
Population composition refers to the structure of the population. Therefore, the situation of the country is based on the age group of the population, gender, literacy level, health conditions, occupation and income level. To understand the role of people as a resource, it is required to know about their qualities, which we can know with the help of population composition. An interesting way of studying the population composition of a county is by the population pyramid, which is also known as the age-sex pyramid.

An interesting way of studying the population composition of a country is by the population pyramid, which is also known as the age-sex pyramid. It is a graphical representation of the age-sex composition of a population. A population pyramid shows-
→ The total population is divided into various age groups, e.g., 5 to 9 years, 10 to 14 years.
→ The percentage of the total population is subdivided into males and females, in each of those groups.
Hence, the population pyramid shows the population percentage, sex ratio, literacy, number of dependent people, birth status, etc. in different age groups, so that we get to know the population structure of that country.
