→ Globe is a true model (miniature form) of the earth.

→ On the globe, countries, continents and oceans are shown in their correct size.

→ Another imaginary line running on the globe dividies it into two equal parts. This line is known as the equator.

→ All parallel circles from the equator up to the poles are called parallels of latitudes.

→ The distance east or west of a place from the reference line connecting the North Pole and the South Pole is measured in degrees. This fractional distance is called longitude and these reference lines are called longitudinal meridian.
