  • If a person does not follow the law, then the government takes action to punish or fine him. If a person feels that a particular law is not being followed, so, he can petition in the court. The court can then give orders about what should be done.

→ Types of Government:
The laws are made by the government in a manner, depending on the type of government in the country. Democracy, monarchy are the main types of government.
(a) Democracy is a form of government in which the people of a country choose their representatives through elections who then form the government.
(b) Monarchy is a form of government which is headed by a king or a queen. The monarch (king or queen) has the power to make decisions and run the government.

→ Democratic Governments:
India is a democracy. The main feature of a democracy is that the people have the power to elect their leaders. So in a sense a democracy is rule by the people. . Democratic governments in our times are usually referred to as representative democracies. In representative democracies people do not participate directly but, instead, choose their representatives through an election process. These representatives meet and make decisions for the entire population.
