Answer:
Raju was impressed by the prediction of the barber. He was master of his art. He could tell about those jail inmates who were released from jail. He could predict about the crime according to their years of imprisonment. He acquired deep knowledge due to his practice.

According to Raju dancers like their praise at the most. They like flattering sentiments from others. They also like to hear about their steps every now and then. They like to listen about their art how perfect they are in it.

उत्तर-राजू के अनुसार नर्तक सबसे अधिक अपनी प्रशंसा सुनना पसन्द करते हैं। वे चापलूसी भरे विचारों को पसन्द करते हैं। वे अपने कदमों के बारे में हर बार अब और तब सुनना चाहते हैं। वे अपनी कला के बारे में सुनना पसन्द करते हैं कि वे कितने प्रवीण हैं।

Raju was playing under the tamarind tree on a mound. The boy came there grazing his cows. Raju asked the boy go away from there. When the boy refused to go Raju used bad language. He complained Raju's father who grabbed him by his neck.

उत्तर-राजू इमली के पेड़ के नीचे एक ढेर पर खेल रहा था। लड़का अपनी गायें चराता हुआ वहाँ आ गया। राजू ने उसे वहाँ से जाने के लिए कहा। जब लड़के ने जाने से मना कर दिया तो उसने बुरी भाषा का प्रयोग किया। उसने राजू के पिता से उसकी शिकायत कर दी जिसने उसे गर्दन से पकड़ा।

The parents sent rice, vegetables and anything to the Malgudi teacher demanded by him. Raju's father sent him cubes of jaggery. When his stock ran out he called a boy and sent him to his parents. He was very polite at that time. He gave oral list to the boy.

The Peak House was situated on the topmost cliff of Mempi Hills. The verandah of the house was covered with the glass, through which one could see the horizons a - hundred miles away and the animals prowled outside the glass wall at night. It was surrounded with rich vegetation.

Question 1. 
After the star advocate's strong pleading why was Raju sentenced imprisonment?
एक मजबूत वकील की वकालत के बाद भी राजू को जेल की सजा क्यों हुई?
Answer:
The advocate presented the matter in the court as a comic story. But, Mani, the secretary of Raju blurted out everything in the court. He told the court that Raju was desperately looking for the parcel. The postmaster admitted that Raju himself had posted the letter. Handwriting expert's report was also claiming that Raju had signed all the papers. Marco had Raju's signature on receipts. Thus the court found Raju culprit. He was punished more but the lawyer's pleading lessened the sentence.

उत्तर-वकील ने अदालत में मामले को एक मजाक के रूप में प्रस्तुत किया। परन्तु मणि, राजू के सचिव ने कोर्ट में सब कुछ बक् दिया था। उसने कोर्ट को बताया कि राजू अधीरता से पार्सल की तलाश कर रहा था। पोस्ट मास्टर ने स्वीकार किया कि राजू ने स्वयं पत्र डाला था। हस्तलेखन विशेषज्ञ की रिपोर्ट दावा कर रही थी कि राजू ने हस्ताक्षर किये थे। मार्को के पास राजू के हस्ताक्षर रसीदों पर थे। कोर्ट ने राजू को अपराधी माना। उसे और सजा मिलती परन्तु वकील की जिरह से सजा कम हो गई थी।

Raju described his daily routine in the novel that he had to wash himself by the wall of his house. He smeared holy ash on his forehead. He had to recite all kinds of holy verses before the framed pictures of gods. After sometime his mother gave him a hot glass of milk to drink. Then his father started teaching him. He began with alphabet and then arithmatic. Raju always waited for someone to disturb him. When anybody came to him, he found a chance to slip away. He went under the tamarind tree and played himself.

Answer:
On friday and saturday the last page of The Hindu published Nalini's photograph and the name of the institution where she was performing. The price of the tickets were also given there. The work of Nalini was expanding more and more. She was being helped by Mani in that business. Raju calculated her earnings. Mani was helping Nalini in maintaining her account books, tax etc. She was famous not only in south India but in north India as well.

Answer:
The villagers looked towards swami Raju as a solution to all the problems. He was a saint, a philosopher and a guide as well for the villagers. The villagers collected at the temple in the evening so that they could learn something useful. Later they came with their children and the village's teacher started teaching them in the temple hall. When it was drought, they asked swami Raju about rain. When cattle died they wanted to know how it had died. They wanted a cure for their cattle from drought from Raju.

उत्तर-गाँव वाले स्वामी राजू की ओर सभी समस्याओं के हल के रूप में देखते थे। वह ग्राम वालों के लिए एक संत, दार्शनिक और निर्देशक था। ग्राम वाले शाम को मन्दिर पर एकत्रित होते थे जिससे कि वे कुछ उपयोगी सीख सकते हैं। बाद में वे अपने बच्चों के साथ आने लगे और ग्राम के शिक्षक ने उन्हें मन्दिर के हॉल में पढ़ाना शुरू किया था। जब सूखा पड़ा था, उन्होंने स्वामी राजू से बरसात के बारे में पूछा था। जब मवेशी मरे थे वे जानना चाहते थे कि वे कैसे मरे थे। वे राजू से सूखे में उनके इलाज के बारे में जानना चाहते थे।

Velan was deeply attached with swami Raju. He was also observing a symbolic fast. He was very serious about the health of swami Raju. He fanned him without caring for his everyday life. He was his staunch follower who took every word of swami Raju seriously. He had developed a deep attachment and respect among the villagers also for Raju. He thought that the fight in the village might disturb. Raju, but his fear vanished when Raju talked to him calmly.

Raju's followers always increased in numbers day by day. He counted the seasons with those things that people brought to him for his food. For example when it was harvest they brought him sugarcane and jaggery cooked with rice. On Tamil new year they brought sweets and fruits, on Dushera they brought extra lamp and lit them. On Deepawali they brought new clothes and crackers. He also kept counts of three seasons of sun, rain and mist.

Answer:
Raju was always given special treatment by the forest officers because he had been doing service for them. The people came to watch this show the trapping of elephant herd. They always wanted prime seat so that they could see well. They came to Raju for that seat. Raju availed this opportunity for his tourists. He earned money for that particular seat. He also got some special pass to the enclosures.

When Raju hid the book of Marco from Rosie, she was very unhappy. She wanted to know the reason from Raju. Rosie also praised Marco that he had tolerated her company even after he had known what Rosie had done. Then Raju thought he had lined quite long with Rosie but he could not understand her. Rosie levelled charges against her. What was the reason of showing sudden affection to her husband. He thought that Rosie wanted to leave him and be in close to her husband.

Answer:
When the shop was given to somebody Raju went there. He told the shopkeeper how everyone could hope for the same luck as his? The shopkeeper winked with mischief. Raju lost his temper and flew at him. The shopkeeper repelled him and he fell down. His mother came and took him at home. He took his books. The shopkeeper warned him also.

उत्तर-जब दुकान किसी और को दे दी गई तब राजू वहाँ पर गया। उसने दुकानदार से कहा कि कोई कैसे उसके जैसे भाग्य की उम्मीद कर सकता था? दुकानदार ने शरारत से उसकी ओर आँख मारी। राजू को इस पर गुस्सा आया और वह उसकी ओर दौड़ा। दुकानदार ने उसे वापस धक्का दिया और वह नीचे गिर गया। उसकी माँ आई और उसे घर ले गई। वह अपनी पुस्तकें ले गया। दुकानदार ने उसे चेतावनी दी।

Answer:
These lines are spoken by Raju to the newcomer in the jail. He tells him that jail is a good place to live. One should not worry about others. One can get food and all the things required for living a life. In the beginning there is a fear of jail, but one can think that one needs a little to live. It has its own free world from other worries and desires.
