Introduction :
The word 'Report' is a product of a word 'Reportaire' of Letin language which means to bring back.'
Report शब्द लेटिन भाषा के Reportaire शब्द से बना है जिसका अर्थ होता है वापस ले जाना'।
A report is a real or genuine description or statement about something which brings the readers back to the situation that has been seen, heard or done by a person.
रिपोर्ट किसी के द्वारा देखी, सुनी अथवा किए गए कार्य का वास्तविक एवं सत्य विवरण होता है जो पाठकों को उस स्थिति तक ले जाता है।
A ‘report is an investigation of an issue or a problem. A report can be of one paragraph or more than one paragraph (like Newspaper Reports or Police FIR). A report can also be a voluminous document (like departmental/ministerial reports or annual reports or report on a probe and so on).

Newspaper/Magazine Report (समाचारपत्र/पत्रिका रिपोर्ट):
A newspaper/magazine report is very brief, factual, statistical, authentic, accurate, objective etc. It is based on the accounts of the eye-witnesses, authentic and accountable personnels or officials or persons.

Tips For Effective Report Writing (प्रभावी रिपोर्ट लेखन के लिए संकेत):
Write a title/headline of the report in the centre of the page. रिपोर्ट का शीर्षक, पेज के बीचों-बीच लिखें।
• Under the headline, write byline - name, rank, position of the person writing the report.
शीर्षक के नीचे, बाइलाइन (नामपंक्ति)-उस व्यक्ति का नाम, स्थिति, पद लिखें जो रिपोर्ट लिख रहा है।
• Open it with place of reporting then put a comma and then write the date of reporting and then put a dash and after that from the same line, give the details. In some reports, place and date may not be written.
जिस स्थान से रिपोर्ट कर रहे हैं उसका नाम लिखकर आरम्भ करें फिर एक कोमा लगाएँ और फिर रिपोर्ट लिखने का दिनांक लिखें और फिर एक dash (डैश) लगाएँ और इसके उपरान्त उस ही

• Keep it purposeful, concise, clear and factual. Leave out explanations and examples. Include only the most relevant information. इसे उद्देश्यपूर्ण, संक्षिप्त, स्पष्ट व तथ्यात्मक रखें। स्पष्टीकरण व उदाहरण छोड़ दें (अर्थात् न लिखें)। केवल बहुत ही संगत सूचनाओं का समावेश करें।
• It should be well structured. It can have several paragraphs each dealing with only one thought.

• Round off it with a conclusion/warning/appeal/comment/recommendation etc. as

Ambedkar School Celebrates Independence Day Function
Nayala, 16 August : India shattered the fetters of slavery on 15 August, 1947. It is a gala day. It is celebrated throughout the country on 15 August every year. It is a national festival. All the students, members of the staff and the Principal of Ambedkar school celebrated the Independence Day Function.
Students stood in rows in front of the flag post. The Principal unfurled the national flag. All clapped again and again. The tricolour was waving in air with pride. All sang the national anthem. Kota : On December 24th at about noon two boys were returning from their school. One of them decided to swim and have fun in the local pond and the other sat down on the sands of the bank. It appeared that the swimmer was drowning. The boy sitting on the bank was not a good swimmer but he jumped in water and somehow managed to reach his drowning friend. The man was crushed to pulp. The policeman searched the pockets of the dead man and found a letter there. The letter said that the dead man had been jobless for the last three years. He had an old mother, a young sister, a wife and a child. They were dying of hunger. He was hopeless (desperate). So he killed himself. People were sad. After some time the train started.
