Working with the Poem 

Question 1. 
Why was Dad sure he wouldn't fall? 
पापा को इस बात का विश्वास क्यों था कि वे नीचे नहीं गिरेंगे?
Answer:
Dad was sure that he wouldn't fall because according to him he was a good climber. 
पापा को पक्का विश्वास था कि वे नीचे नहीं गिरेंगे क्योंकि उनके अनुसार वे एक अच्छे पेड़ पर चढ़ने वाले थे। 

Question 2. 
Which phrase in the poem expresses Dad's self-confidence best?
कविता का कौनसा वाक्यांश पापा के आत्मविश्वास को सबसे अच्छे तरीके से बताता है? 
Answer:
The phrase 'just leave it to me,' expresses Dad's self-confidence best. 
वह वाक्यांश "केवल इसे मुझ पर छोड़ दो" पापा के आत्मविश्वास को सबसे अच्छे तरीके से बताता है।

Describe Plan A and its consequences. 
आप योजना अ और उसके परिणामों को विस्तार से बताइए। 
Answer:
Plan A was to reach the tree top with the help of a ladder. However, it failed because the ladder slipped and Dad fell on the ground in the flower bed.

योजना अ में सीढ़ी की सहायता से पेड़ की ऊंचाई पर चढ़ना था। यद्यपि यह असफल रही क्योंकि सीढ़ी फिसल गई और पापा फूलों की क्यारियों में जमीन पर गिर पड़े।

Plan C was a success. What went wrong then?

Answer:
Plan C was a success as father reached the tree top successfully and the cat jumped down on the ground. There was one thing that went wrong, which was that the poor Dad got stuck up in the tree. 

योजना 'स' सफल थी क्योंकि पापा सफलता से पेड़ की ऊंचाई पर पहुंच गए और बिल्ली नीचे जमीन पर कूद गई थी। वहाँ पर एक बात गलत हो गई थी वह यह थी कि बेचारे पापा पेड़ पर फंस गए थे।

There are two phrases that have been used to express that the cat was very happy to be on the ground. They are :

Describe the Cat and Dad situation in the beginning and at the end of the poem.

Answer:
In the beginning of the poem, the poor, little cat was stuck up in the tree and Dad was on the ground. At the end of the poem, the cat was on the ground and Dad was stuck up in the tree.

कविता के शुरू में बेचारी छोटी बिल्ली पेड़ पर ऊपर अटकी | हुई थी और पापा जमीन पर थे। कविता के अन्त में बिल्ली जमीन पर थी और पापा पेड़ पर ऊपर अटके हुए थे।

Answer:
(i) Dad said, "Fall?'' when mum warned him against falling. Dad was confident. 
(ii) When he fell in the flower bed, he said 'Never mind'. Because he didn't give up. 
(iii) When he was using plan 'B', mum warned , him about not to fall again. He was confident of his climbing skill. 
(iv) When his second planralso failed, Mum asked hig to stop trying to rescue the cat. She was scored that he might break his neck. Dad dismissed her concern by saying it 'Rubbish'. 

(i) जब माँ ने उसे नीचे गिरने से चेताया था तब पापा ने 'Fall?' कहा । वह पूर्ण आत्मविश्वासी थे। 
(ii) जब वह फूलों की क्यारियों में गिरे, उन्होंने कहा Never mind' । क्योंकि उन्होंने हिम्मत नहीं हारी थी। 
(iii) योजना 'ब' के प्रयोग पर माँ ने उन्हें पुनः न गिरने के लिए चेताया। तब पापा ने 'Funny joke!' कहा। वे पेड़ पर चढ़ने की अपनी योग्यता पर पूर्ण आश्वस्त थे। 
(iv) जब उसकी दूसरी योजना भी असफल हुई, माँ ने उसे बिल्ली को बचाने की कोशिश बन्द करने को कहा। वह डरती थी कि कहीं वह अपनी गर्दन न तुड़वा ले। पापा ने 'Rubbish' कहते हुए उनकी चिन्ता को खारिज कर दिया।

कठिन शब्दार्थ-stuck (स्टक्) = रुका हुआ, अटका हुआ। leave (लीव्) = छोड़ना । wobbly (वॉब्लि) = डांवाडोल। scoff (स्कॉफ्) = किसी व्यक्ति की हँसी उड़ाना, ताना मारना । climber (क्लाइम(र)) = चढ़ने वाला, चढ़ाई करने में पारंगत । dirt (डट्) = धूल | wallop (वॉलप्) = किसी को कसकर पीटना । deck (डेक्) = छत (जलपोत या बस)| rubbish (रबिश्) = कचरा, बकवास । wink (विङ्क) = आंखें मिचकाना ladder (लैड(र)) = सीढ़ी।

हिन्दी अनुवाद - आज सुबह एक बिल्ली हमारे पेड़ में ऊपर की ओर फंस गई। मेरे पापा ने कहा, "ठीक है, इसे मेरे लिए छोड़ दो।" यह पेड़ डांवाडोल हो रहा था और पेड़ लम्बा था। मेरी माँ ने कहा, "भगवान के लिए आपसे यह प्रार्थना है कि गिर मत जाना।" "गिर जाना?" 

पापा ने हंसी में बात को उड़ाते हुए कहा, "मेरे जैसा एक योग्य, पारंगत पेड़ पर चढ़ने वाला? यह बच्चों का खेल है मेरे लिए! आप देखते रहो और इन्तजार करो।"वह बगीचे के कमरे से एक सीढ़ी लेकर आए। यह फिसल गई। वह नीचे फूलों की क्यारियों में आकर गिरे।पापा ने कहा, "कोई बात नहीं है।" वे धूल को अपने बालों और चेहरे पर से, अपने पायजामे और शर्ट पर से झाड़ते हुए यह बोले।

"हम योजना 'ब' पर प्रयास करते हैं, रास्ते से बाहर खड़े रहो!", माँ ने कहा, "फिर से मत गिर जाना, अच्छा?"
पापा ने कहा, "फिर से गिर जाना?" "अच्छा मजाकिया चुटकुला है !" तब वे एक शाखा पर झूल गए। यह शाखा टूट गई।
पापा जमीन पर धम्म से आकर गिरे, जबरदस्त चोट लगी। माँ ने कहा, "रोको इसे । आप अपनी गर्दन तुड़वा लोगे।" 
पापा ने कहा, "बकवास है ! अब हम योजना 'स' का प्रयास करते हैं। यह मेरे जैसे पारंगत चढ़ने वाले के लिए आँख मिचकाने जितना सरल है!"
