RBSE Class 7 English Grammar Phrasal Verbs

Phrasal Verb उस शब्द-समूह को कहते हैं जिसमें एक base verb और एक Preposition या Adverb होती है। एक Phrasal Verb का अर्थ अपने root word से भिन्न हो सकता है. जैसे
The passenger train calls at every station. उपर्युक्त वाक्य में call at का अर्थ 'ठहरना/ रुकना' है।

कभी - कभी एक Phrasal Verb का अर्थ इसकी base verb के अर्थ के समान ही होता है, और preposition या adverbs तो base verb के अर्थ को ही और प्रभावशाली करते हैं, जैसे
Please, stand up. उपर्युक्त वाक्य में base verb है 'stand' तथा adverb है up जो केवल base verb के अर्थ"खड़ा होना' को ही प्रभावशाली बना रही है।।

कभी - कभी Phrasal Verb की adverbs, base verb के action को पूर्ण करने/समाप्त करने के विचार को प्रदर्शित करती है, जैसे
Please, eat up your meal now. उपर्युक्त वाक्य में adverb 'up' base verb के action-eat' को समाप्त करने (finisheating) के विचार को जोड़ती/प्रदर्शित करती है।
