RBSE Class 6 Maths Solutions Chapter 14 Practical Geometry Ex 14.3
Question 1.
Draw any line segment \(\overline{P Q}\). Without measuring \(\overline{P Q}\), construct a copy of \(\overline{P Q}\).
Answer:
Steps of construction :

- Draw \(\overline{P Q}\), whose length is not known.
- Then draw a line segment l and mark a point A on it.
- Now measure the length of \(\overline{P Q}\) by compass and place a needle C at point A and mark a point B on Z.
Thus, AJB is a copy of PQ.
Question 2.
Given some line segment AB whose length you do not know, construct PQ such that the length of PQ is twice that of AB.
Sol.:
Steps of construction :

- Draw any line segment AB of unknown length.
- Place the needle of the compass at point A and pointer on B, open the compass equal to length of AB.
- Now draw a line l and point P on it.
- Now without changing the opening of compass place the needle at point P and mark a point R on l.
- Now place the needle of the compass at point R and with the same opening of compass mark another point Q on the line segment.
Thus, PQ is the required length that is twice of AB.
