→ सभी जीवों को वायु की आवश्यकता होती है। यह हमारे चारों तरफ हर जगह उपस्थित है।
→ वायु का कोई रंग नहीं होता है। यह पारदर्शी होती है।
→ वायु अनेक गैसों का मिश्रण है। यह स्थान भी घेरती है।
→ ऑक्सीजन गैस जलने में सहायक होती है।
→ पृथ्वी वायु की एक पतली परत से घिरी हुई है। इस परत का विस्तार कई किलोमीटर तक है तथा इसे वायुमण्डल कहते हैं।
→ जलीय प्राणी जल में घुली हुई ऑक्सीजन का श्वसन के लिए उपयोग करते हैं एवं मिट्टी में रहने वाले जीव मिट्टी में विद्यमान ऑक्सीजन का प्रयोग करते हैं।
→ ऑक्सीजन तथा कार्बन-डाइ-ऑक्साइड के आदान-प्रदान के लिए पौधे तथा जन्तु एक-दूसरे पर निर्भर रहते हैं।
