Consumers has been provided many rights under which the most important is the right to be informed. When a consumer purchases a commodity, all information regarding the product, its ingredients, date of manufacture, precaution of use etc. are printed on the packing of product because the consumer has right to be informed. If there is any complaint about the product or service, the consumer can claim for compensation or demand for change of a product. For example, if a shopkeeper is selling the medicine after expiry date, consumer can complain against for the same.
At present government has increased its area. In 2005 government of India passed a law, which is known as “Right to Information" (RTI). By this act, the right to information has been expanded to cover various services provided by the Government. The RTI act ensures India's citizens all the information about the functions of government departments.
