Answer:
The poem opens with a dialogue between the Duck and the Kangaroo. She expresses wonder on the Kangaroo's hopping. Then, she mentions her pitiable conditions. Finally, she reveals her wish for a world tour.

कविता बतख व कंगारू के मध्य संवाद से आरम्भ होती है। वह कंगारू की फुदकन पर प्रशंसापूर्ण आश्चर्य प्रकट करती है। फिर वह, अपनी दयनीय स्थिति का जिक्र करती है। अन्त में, वह विश्व भ्रमण की अपनी अभिलाषा प्रकट करती है।

How does the Duck request for a ride for divergent places?

Answer:
The Duck requests the Kangaroo to let her ride on his back. For this, she is ready to sit quite still and says nothing but quacks. They will tour the Dee, the Jelly Bo Lee, over the land and sea.

बतख, कंगारू से निवेदन करती है कि वह उसे उसकी पीठ पर सवारी करने की आज्ञा दे। इसके लिए, वह शांत बैठने व काँ-काँ के सिवाय कुछ नहीं बोलने को तैयार है । वे 'डी', 'जेली बॉ ली' व पृथ्वी तथा समुद्र की सैर करेंगे।

Answer:
The Kangaroo reflects that perhaps on the whole it might bring him luck. But he has one objection that her feet are wet and cold and it may give him rheumatism.

कंगारू विचार करता है कि शायद कुल मिलाकर यह उसके लिए सौभाग्य ले आये। लेकिन उसे एक आपत्ति है कि उसके पैर गीले व ठंडे हैं और इससे संभवतः उसे गठिया रोग हो सकता है।

Answer:
The Duck removes the Kangaroo's objection by saying that she has bought four pairs of worsted socks which fit her web-feet neatly. And to keep out the cold she has bought a cloak. And everyday she will smoke a cigar to follow her own dear true love of a Kangaroo. 

बतख यह कहते हुए कंगारू की आपत्ति दूर करती है कि उसने चार जोड़े गर्म जुराब खरीद लिये हैं जो उसके जालीदार पैर में एकदम फिट हैं । और सर्दी को दूर रखने के लिए उसने एक लबादा खरीद लिया है। और प्रत्येक दिन वह एक सिगार पीयेगी ताकि कंगारू के प्रति अपने प्रिय प्रेम का अनुसरण कर सके।

Answer:
The poem concludes on a happy note. The Duck sits steady at the end of the Kangaroo's tail. They go away with a hop and a bound in the pale moonlight. They hop the world three times round.

कविता एक प्रसन्नता की सूचना के साथ पूर्ण होती है। बतख, कंगारू की पूँछ के अंत में बिना हिलेडुले बैठ जाती है। वे फुदकते व कूदते हुए हल्की चाँदनी में सैर करते हैं। वे विश्व की तीन बार सैर करते हैं।

Answer:
We can get our desires and tasks done in case we are selfless and polite in our dealings. We should pay due attention and give due respect towards the feelings of others. Our clear heartedness like the Duck can grant us desired results. It also specifies. “Where there is a will, there is a way.” 

यदि हम अपने व्यवहार में निःस्वार्थ और विनम्र हैं तो हम अपनी इच्छाएँ एवं अपने कार्य करवा सकते हैं। हमें दूसरों का उचित ध्यान रखना चाहिए व उनकी भावनाओं का आदर करना चाहिए। बतख की तरह हमारा स्वच्छ हृदय हमें इच्छित परिणाम दे सकता है। यह सन्देश भी है - जहाँ चाह, वहाँ राह।

Stanza 1.

Said the Duck to the Kangaroo,
"Good gracious! how you hop! 
Over the fields and the water too,
As if you never would stop! 
My life is a bore in this nasty pond, 
And I long to go out in the world beyond!
I wish I could hop like you!”

Context : A Duck meets Kangaroo and she praises the Kangaroo for his art of hopping.

Explanation : The Duck meets the Kangaroo and praises him that he hops wonderfully over the water and in the fields. She seems that he (Kangaroo) will never stop. The Duck complains that she (Duck) always lives in a small pond. Her life is boring. She also desires to go far from the pond and to jump like the Kangaroo. The Duck praises the Kangaroo and expresses her wish to go away from the pond.

व्याख्या : बतख कंगारू से मिलती है और उसकी प्रशंसा करती है कि वह आश्चर्यजनक रूप से पानी के ऊपर से और खेतों में कूदता है। ऐसा प्रतीत होता है मानो कि वह कभी भी नहीं रुकेगा अर्थात् इस प्रकार कूदता रहेगा। बतख शिकायत करती है कि वह हमेशा एक छोटे से पोखर में रहती है। उसका जीवन नीरस  है। वह इच्छा प्रकट करती है कि वह भी पोखर से दूर जाये और कंगारू की तरह कूदे। बतख कंगारू की प्रशंसा करती है और स्वयं भी पोखर से दूर जाने की इच्छा रखती है।

Said the Duck to the Kangaroo. 
“I would sit quite still, and say nothing but "Quack',
The whole of the long day through! 
And we'd go to the Dee, and the Jelly Bo Lee,
Over the land, and over the sea;
Please take me a ride! O do!"

Context : A Duck praises a Kangaroo for his wonderful hopping and expresses her wish to hop like him.

Explanation : In these lines the Duck requests the Kangaroo to get sit on his back. Said the Kangaroo to the Duck,
"This requires some little reflection; 
Perhaps on the whole it might bring me luck,
And there seems but one objection. 
Which is, if you'll let me speak so bold, 
Your feet are unpleasantly wet and cold, 
And would probably give me the roo
Matiz!” said the Kangaroo.

Context : The Duck requests the Kangaroo to ride on her back and wants to go on world tour with the Kangaroo.

Explanation : In these lines Kangaroo says to the Duck before getting sit her (Duck) on his (Kangaroo's) back he will think over the matter. He thinks that it may bring him a good luck but there is a question in his mind. He says to Duck that her feet are wet and cold. It may create a problem to him and he may victim of rheumatism.

Stanza 4.

Said the Duck, “As I sat on the rocks,
I have thought over that completely, 
And I bought four pairs of worsted socks
Which fit my web-feet neatly. 
And to keep out the cold i've bought a cloak,
And every day a cigar I'll smoke, 
All to follow my own dear true
Love of a Kangaroo!”

Context : Before getting ride the duck on his back the Kangaroo tells the Duck that he may get cold and become ill due to the cold and wet legs of the Duck.

Explanation : The Duck says to the Kangaroo that she sat on the rock to get dry herself and has bought four pair of woolen socks (which) that are fit on her feet. The Duck will cover herself with a cloak (gown) and will smoke a cigar everyday to keep itself warm. The Duck says to the kangaroo that she will do everything to keep her dear Kangaroo away from the cold. It reflects in these lines that where is a will, there is way.

व्याख्या : बतख कंगारू से कहती है कि वह स्वयं को सुखाने के लिए चट्टान पर बैठी थी। उसने चार जोड़ी गर्म जुर्राबें (मोजे) खरीद लिए हैं जो उसके पैरों के उपयुक्त नाप के हैं। वह (बतख) स्वयं को एक गर्म चोगे (गाऊन) से ढक लेगी और स्वयं को गर्म रखने के लिए प्रतिदिन एक सिगार पियेगी। बतख कंगारू से कहती है कि वह अपने प्रिय (कंगारू) को सर्दी से बचाने के लिए सब कुछ करेगी। (बतख की) इन पंक्तियों से प्रतिबिम्बित होता है कि जहाँ चाह वहाँ राह।

Stanza 5.

Said the Kangaroo, “I'm ready!
All in the moonlight pale; ....... 
But to balance me well, dear Duck, sit steady!
And quite at the end of my táil!”. 
So away they went with a hop and a bound, 
And they hopped the whole world three times round;
And who so happy–O who,
As the Duck and the Kangaroo?

Context : The Duck tells the Kangaroo that it will do its best to save him from cold. The Duck is very eager to go on a visit of the world with the Kangaroo riding on his back.

Explanation : Al last the kangaroo becomes ready to go on world visit with the Duck. He tells the Duck to sit steady and quite on the end of his tail. He will take it out in the moonlit night. They will hop (jump) and take three round the whole world happily. The poet tells that who is more happy in the world than the Duck and the Kangaroo. Thus travel gives us happiness.

कठिन शब्दार्थ एवं हिन्दी अनुवाद 

1. Said the Duck........................the Kangaroo.

कठिन शब्दार्थ : good gracious (गुड् ग्रेशस्) = वाह ! (आश्चर्य की अभिव्यक्ति), hop (हॉप्) = फुदकना, nasty (नास्टि) = खराब।

हिन्दी अनुवाद : बत्तख ने कंगारू से कहा, 'वाह! तुम कैसे फुदकते हो। खेतों में से भी और पानी के ऊपर से भी, ऐसे जैसे कि तुम कभी रुकोगे ही नहीं। इस खराब/गंदे से पोखर में मेरा जीवन ऊबाऊ है, और मेरी इस संसार में दूर जाने की इच्छा है ! मेरी इच्छा है कि मैं तुम्हारी तरह फुदक सकूँ !' बत्तख ने कंगारू से कहा।

कठिन शब्दार्थ : sit quite still (सिट क्वाइट स्टिल) = बिल्कुल शान्त बैठना।

हिन्दी अनुवाद : 'कृपया, मुझे अपनी पीठ पर सवारी दे दो!' बत्तख ने कंगारू से कहा। मैं बिल्कुल शान्त बैलूंगी और 'काँ-काँ' के सिवाय सारा दिन कुछ नहीं बोलूँगी! और हम Dee, Jelly Bo Lee (काल्पनिक स्थान) की सैर करने जाएंगे और पृथ्वी पर तथा समुद्र की सैर करेंगे। कृपया मुझे सैर पर (सवारी) ले चलो! अरे (कंगारू), अवश्य ले चलो!' बत्तख ने कंगारू से कहा।

भावार्थ : बत्तख की विश्व भ्रमण की अभिलाषा है। उसके लिए सभी शर्ते स्वीकार्य हैं। 

3. Said the..............Kangaroo. 

कठिन शब्दार्थ : reflection (रिफ्लेक्श्न् ) = चिन्तन, roo-Matiz (rheumatism) (रूमटिजॅम) = गठिया का रोग, probably (प्रॉबब्लि ) = सम्भवतः।

हिन्दी अनुवाद : कंगारू ने बत्तख से कहा, 'इसे कुछ थोड़े चिन्तन की आवश्यकता है (अर्थात् मुझे कुछ समय विचार करने दो)। शायद कुल मिलाकर यह मेरे लिये सौभाग्य ले आए (कंगारू चिन्तन कर रहा है). लेकिन एक आपत्ति दिखाई दे रही है, जो कि यह है, यदि तुम मुझे निर्भीकता से बोलने की आज्ञा दो, तुम्हारे पैर असुहावने रूप से गीले और ठण्डे हैं, और शायद मुझे गठिया का रोग दे दे' कंगारू ने कहा। 

भावार्थ : कोई व्यक्ति आपसे कैसा भी आग्रह करे, उस पर चिन्तन अवश्य करना चाहिए और फिर निर्भीकता से अपने विचार व्यक्त करने चाहिए। 

4. Said the Duck.................of a Kangaroo !" 

कठिन शब्दार्थ : worsted socks (वस्ट्ड सॉक्स) = गर्म जुराबें, web-feet (वेब् फीट) = जालीदार पैर, cloak (क्लोक्) = लबादा।

हिन्दी अनुवाद : बतख ने कहा, 'जब मैं चट्टान पर बैठी थी तब मैंने इस पर पूर्णतः विचार किया था, और मैंने चार जोड़ा गर्म जुराब खरीद लिये हैं जो मेरे जालीदार पैर पर एकदम फिट आ रहे हैं। और ठंड को दूर रखने के लिए मैंने एक लबादा खरीद लिया है। और नित्यप्रति मैं एक सिगार पीऊँगी। यह सब एक कंगारू के प्रति अपने प्रिय सच्चे प्रेम के अनुसरण में होगा!'

भावार्थ : जहाँ चाह वहाँ राह । दृढ़ संकल्प हो तो रास्ते निकाल लिये जाते हैं। 

5. Said the....................and the Kangaroo? 

कठिन शब्दार्थ : pale (पेल्) = मद्धम, steady (स्टेडि) = बिना हिले-डुले।

हिन्दी अनुवाद : कंगारू ने कहा, 'मैं तैयार हूँ! इस हल्की-सी चाँदनी में, किन्तु मेरा संतुलन ठीक से बना रहे इसके लिए प्रिय बतख, बिना हिले-डुले बैठना! और ठीक मेरी पूंछ के अंत में!' इस प्रकार वे फुदकते और छलांग मारते चले गए। और उन्होंने सारे विश्व का तीन बार चक्कर काटा। और कौन इतना प्रसन्न था-अरे कौन, जितना कि बतख व कंगारू?

भावार्थ : जीवन को आकर्षक बनाए रखने के लिए पर्यटन भी जरूरी है।
