Answer: 
There is scanty vegetation in the deserts due to following reasons:
The growth of vegetation depends on climate and soil. Climate in the desert has extreme conditions either too hot or too cold and dry.'Such climate does not allow the growth of vegetation. Desert experiences less rainfall which leads to scanty vegetation. In desert areas, soil is either sandy or covered with snow,-both types are not favourable for vegetation.

(ii) People of the Sahara desert wear heavy robes.

People of Sahara desert wear heavy robes because these robes are heavy and they provide protection against dust storms and hot winds.
