In what ways are the books were read today different from the Rigveda?
Answer: 
The books we read today are different from the Rigveda in many ways:

  1. The present day books are written and printed while the Rigveda was not written down for several centuries after its composition.
  2. The present books are read while the Rigveda was recited and heard.
  3. Rigveda was composed in format of hymns or suktas whereas presently only some poetic or religious books are written in such format.

What kind of evidence from burials do archaeologists use to find out whether there were social differences amongst those who were buried?
Answer: 
Archaeologists think that objects found with a skeleton probably belonged to the dead person. Sometimes, more objects were found in one grave than in another. In Brahmagiri, one skeleton was buried with 33 gold beads, 2 stone beads, 4 copper bangles, and one conch shell. Other skeletons have only a few pots. These findings suggest that there was some differences in status amongst the people who were buried. For instance, some were rich, some were poor, some were chief, some were followers, etc.

In what ways do you think that the life of a raja was different from that of dada or dasi?
Answer: 

  1. The Raja was a powerful person and leader of a tribe while dasa or dasi had no such powers.
  2. The Raja was the master and was helped by many of people performing different duties while the life of dasa or dasi was controlled by Raja.
  3. The Raja was at the highest position of the society while the dasa or dasi was at lowest position in the society.
