Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was bom on 14th April 1891 in the town of Mhow in the central provinces (now in Madhya Pradesh). Originally, his family belonged to the ‘NaagvAnswer:’, but later, it came to be known as the caste ‘Mahaar’. As he was born in a family identified as ‘Untouchables’, he faced a lot of insults and discrimination right from his childhood. Throughout his life, he fought against untouchability.  He was the President of ‘The Constitution Drafting Committee of India. 

His famous book was ‘Who were The Shudras? He led the Chavdar Tale Satyagraha on 20th March 1927 to allow the untouchables to use to use water from a public tank in Mahad (currently in Raigarh district), Maharashtra. This day (20th March) is observed as Social Empowerment day in India. In the social history of India, this was the first empowered collective movement of the oppressed class (dalits) under the leadership of Dr. Ambedkar for re-establishment of the right to social justice and social equality. Under his leadership, the dalits launched another movement in March 1930. The movement was run for their entry in famous Kalaram Temple in Nashik City in Maharashtra. Ultimately, in 1935, their entry was allowed in the temple.

Gradually, a huge amount of money was collected. He also went to Hyderabaad and got a huge donation from the liberal Muslim ruler, Nizam. He travelled across the whole nation and collected approximately 64 lakh rupees. He was a great patriot, and had a strong dedication towards our culture. He proved to be a great revolutionary leader.
