1. Meaning (अर्थ) --

समध्वनि शब्द (हॉमॅफउन्ज-homophones) किसी एक भाषा के वे शब्द होते हैं जो उच्चारण में तो समान होते हैं किन्तु spelling व meaning में भिन्न होते हैं, जैसे-some व sum दोनों का उच्चारण 'सम' है किन्तु दोनों शब्दों की spelling भिन्न है व दोनों शब्दों के अर्थ (meaning) भी भिन्न हैं, some का अर्थ है 'कुछ' तथा sum का अर्थ है 'धनराशि'।
